Madras refers to a weave which became highly popular in India around the turn of the 19th century. The weave is obtained by using two reeds, one working against the other, creating unique patterns of exceptional beauty and quality. Madras is a lace which takes time, care and great skill to produce. Only the highest quality cotton is employed and it takes a skilled weaver a full day on a Jacquard loom to produce just ten yards of Madras. Madras curtains provide privacy while letting in sunlight and giving a glow of elegance to any room. |
